COMMUNITY NOTICES
  • Souris Valley First Responders would like to welcome Peter Deis who works and resides at Canada Customs at Oungre Port and Megan Walkeden who is home for the summer and works at Oungre Park. It is great to see two new members come and join us as Grant Williams and Dwain Geiger have moved out of our community. We were very fortunate this year to purchase two new AED-Automated External Defibrillors, which are used to assist people that have sufffered a heart attack. The Dr.Brown Fundraiser purchased one of these units and the AED is located at Oungre Park. The second unit was purchased by Torquay Credit Union and RM of Souris Valley and it is located with a Tribune First Responder. The original AED is located at the Canada Customs at Oungre Port. On behalf of SVFR Thank you for the 2 new AED. When you place a call into the new 911 dispatch, please tell them the nature of the emergency and the location, then please try and call a local First Responder. You may also call us first and then 911, by doing this it speeds up the time that we are able to get to the scene and provide aid to the person in need before the ambulance arrives. We have found in the past that it sometimes may take 10-15 minutes before we are notified, which is a critical loss of time. There is no charge to call 911 for the ambulance. There is a charge if the ambulance actually transports you to a health care facility. We of course are all volunteers and are happy to provide Medical Aid in the community.
